Well, it is Sunday, May 22, 2011.   We are here at Sam and Julia Bernards’ home in Bentonville, AK, and present we have Grandma and Grandpa Tarbet—Glen Tarbet and Ann Tarbet, and Julia is here, Brad Sr., and Kiki, who is Kristin Alina Bernards, and myself, Jami Bernards are here.  We’ve had a wonderful weekend.  We gathered to celebrate James’ graduation—Kiki’s graduating from college, James graduating from high school, and today they are celebrating their seminary graduation.  James got to speak in Sacrament Meeting and sing and ummm . . .
Anyway, Grandma and Grandpa traveled here from Utah and we’re just really privileged to be able to be with them, and we wanted to record a little bit for them.
Grandpa, I’m going to ask you to hold this, OK?  And then, we can just ask you some questions, if you’ll be sweet and just answer questions as we go along.  Are you good with that?

[singing]  Oh, the boson’s mate was very sedate
Yet fond of amusement too.
He’s play hopscotch with the starboard watch
While the captain tickled the crew.
And the gunner we had was apparently mad
For he sat on the after rai-ai-ail
As he fired salutes with the captain’s boots
In the teeth of the booming gale.
[chorus] [JB joints]
Then blow ye winds, heigh ho!
                A’sailing I will go.
I’ll sail no more on England’s shores
                So let the music play–ay–ay!
I’m off on the morning train.
                I’ll cross the raging main.
I’m off to my  love with a boxing glove
                Ten thousand miles away.

To start over, I do that, huh?
JB2
Yes.  That’s right.  Very good.
GT
Let’s see.  I was talking about moving the house from right behind Godfreys’ to the west end of our property, and then, the dictation took about a twelve-hour lapse, so I’m restarting now, in the afternoon of the 23rd of May, 2011, at 2:27pm Arkansas time.
We resided in the house right behind Godfreys’ until we had it rolled down onto our property, and one major thing that happened while we were still living in the house right behind Godfreys’ was the neighbors two houses away — the Adamsons’ house caught fire and burned down.  We had some of the Adamson children come and live in our house with us.  That didn’t last for very long.  I don’t know why.

Um, so tell me about the interview that Julia and Jami did.  What all did you guys go over.
GT
Oh my.  It just went hither and yon, actually.  I can’t remember exactly what we covered.  It must have been about three hours’ worth of recording.  We talked about all sorts of things.
ST
Well, have you thought about anything that you missed talking about in those interviews, that you would have liked to have added later?
GT
I haven’t really thought much about it, no.  [laughter]  No, I haven’t.  It was kind of hit-and-miss kind of thing.
ST
Was it?

ST
Yeah.  Well, at least the old drive-in is still here, huh?  Even though it has four or five screens now.
JT
Oh.  Well, I guess that’s efficient.
ST
Jewels—how come you—oh.  Geeze. Six screens.
GT
That was one of the first drive-ins in the state.
ST
One of the last, too.

Yeah.  It think it is.  14-something. 14.75 or something.
ST
Anyway, we were talking about dance bands.

Welcome to SEP Inbox

If you have found your way to this page, you probably know this is the site where we are compiling a personal history for my dad, Glen Tarbet, in commemoration of his 80th birthday. We want to create a history as full as my dad's life, and to do that we need input from the entire spectrum of his friends and family.

For your convenience, this form has been broken up into several pages. Please visit the various pages and fill out the embedded forms, whether you have a little or a lot to share. Be as detailed or as brief as suits you. Then, proceed to the following pages to complete the remainder of the questionnaire.

Be sure to click the 'submit' button at the bottom of every page to save your contributions. If you did not receive a 'thank you' prompt, your submission has not been recorded.

You do not need to complete every page in one sitting, or even all of one page at once. Neither must you work sequentially. You can return as often as you like to make more entries as the mood suits.

Thanks for participating, and, see you at the party!

Hey, Guys and Gals,

http://www.myhistorology.com/index.php  I just have to put in a plug for the website Paul has created to help people compile their personal history.  It's developed as a place for people to write about single incidents in their lives that mean something to them, date them, and then the software keeps track of them in chronological order.  The more events you write about, the more detailed becomes your personal history.

It's free, it's really simple and really clean so doesn't take long for it to load on your computer.  It is still in beta testing and I know there are other features he wants to include down the road, but this is a really great start.   It's also a great way to start on your own personal history.
